In the not-too-distant future, genetic engineering has given rise to a class of biologically superior humans known as “valids,” who dominate positions of power and prestige. Vincent (Ethan Hawke), an aspiring astronaut born naturally, faces limited opportunities and can only secure a janitorial role at the elite Gattaca Corporation. Determined to achieve his dreams, he assumes the identity of a genetically perfect but paralyzed athlete, with the help of Irene (Uma Thurman) and Jerome (Jude Law). However, a murder within the company triggers an investigation, putting Vincent’s deception and future at risk.
